Assistant Professor (M/F) - Centre for Credible AI

Warsaw University of Technology is recruiting an Assistant Professor (post-doc level) for the Centre for Credible AI in a full-time research position focused on theoretical foundations of AI and machine learning.

The role is based in the research staff group in computer science and is designated as a primary place of employment. The position targets candidates interested in AI theory, including topics such as computational learning theory, expressiveness of transformers and related models, explainable AI, and formal methods. The posting also welcomes researchers with strong theoretical computer science or mathematics backgrounds who intend to transition into AI and machine learning research in an interdisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct independent research in AI theory and related foundational topics
Contribute to interdisciplinary projects in credible and trustworthy AI
Support and mentor junior researchers in collaborative scientific work
Develop high-quality scientific outputs and research documentation

Requirements

PhD obtained within the last 5 years in computer science, mathematics, physics, AI, machine learning, natural sciences, or related area
Research experience in AI theory, such as learning theory, transformer expressiveness, explainable AI, or formal methods, or equivalent theoretical background with commitment to AI research
Ability to run independent research and work collaboratively across disciplines
Very good command of English
