Assistant Professor (M/F) - Centre for Credible AI (CCAI/2026/R2/11)

Warsaw University of Technology is recruiting an Assistant Professor (postdoctoral researcher, R2) for the Centre for Credible AI in a full-time role focused on machine learning and explainable AI in biomedical and life-science applications.

The position is funded under the project “Centre for Credible AI at the Warsaw University of Technology”, financed through the FENG MAB programme (contract no. FENG.02.01-IP.05-0058/24). The selected candidate will work at the interface of machine learning, explainable AI, and biomedical data analysis, designing methods for modeling, exploration, and analysis of large-scale, high-dimensional biological and medical datasets. The role combines independent research with interdisciplinary collaboration and mentoring of junior researchers within the Centre for Credible AI.

Responsibilities

Designing and applying machine learning methods, including modern explainable AI approaches, in biomedical sciences
Documenting research results in scientific publications and internal reports
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on modeling, exploration, integration, and analysis of biological and medical data
Participating in the preparation and implementation of research projects financed from national and international sources (e.g. NCN, Horizon Europe, ESA PECS)

Requirements

PhD in computer science, mathematics, bioinformatics, physics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a related discipline obtained no more than five years prior to the application date (extensions apply for documented research interruptions and parental leave as defined in the competition rules)
Proven experience in designing methods for modeling, exploration, and analysis of biological and/or medical data, in particular large-scale, high-dimensional biomedical datasets
Documented experience in research work on machine learning models with applications in the life-science domain
Experience in developing tools for processing multidimensional data, visualizing results, and automating computational experiments
Ability to conduct independent research and work effectively in a team, including readiness for interdisciplinary collaboration and mentoring or supporting junior researchers
Very good command of English
