Junior Researcher – 0.5 FTE (doctoral student) (M/F) - Centre for Credible AI (CCAI/2026/R1/12)

Warsaw University of Technology is recruiting three Junior Researchers (doctoral students) at 0.5 FTE for the Centre for Credible AI, responsible for the development, testing, and maintenance of research software supporting artificial intelligence projects.

The person employed in this position will be responsible for the development, testing, and maintenance of research software supporting projects in the field of artificial intelligence. The work will be interdisciplinary in nature and will involve close cooperation with research teams in the construction, optimisation, and implementation of analytical tools and computing infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and documenting programming components supporting experiments with AI models (including LLMs, generative models, and complex system simulations)
  • Developing and maintaining tools for data processing, visualisation of results, and automation of computational experiments
  • Optimising code performance and supporting the integration of models with research infrastructure (e.g. HPC, cloud, MLOps pipeline)
  • Cooperation with research teams in the implementation of replicable and scalable experimental procedures
  • Participation in the creation of technical documentation and open scientific software repositories

Requirements

  • Higher education (Master's degree) in computer science, physics, psychological sciences, or a related field at the time of employment
  • Experience in software engineering, including designing, testing, and maintaining complex code systems (preferred languages: Python, C++, or others used in computational research)
  • Proven experience in creating, developing, or co-creating open source software (e.g. participation in open source projects, contributions to public repositories)
  • Documented experience in research work on AI models with applications in the space sector or similar (previous cooperation with the European Space Agency is welcome)
  • Knowledge of tools and practices related to scientific software development (version control, CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, reproducibility)
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and willingness to support researchers in implementation, optimisation, and documentation of programming solutions
  • Very good knowledge of English
