Junior Researcher (M/F) - Centre for Credible AI

Warsaw University of Technology is recruiting two Junior Researchers (doctoral-student level) for the Centre for Credible AI, each at 0.5 FTE, with a focus on research software engineering for trustworthy AI projects.

This opening targets doctoral students interested in building and maintaining research software for advanced AI studies in an interdisciplinary setting. The role emphasizes engineering-quality implementations for AI experiments, including model integration with research infrastructure, reproducibility practices, and support for open scientific software. Candidates with experience in open-source contributions and AI applications in the space sector are especially well aligned with this posting.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and document software components for AI experiments, including LLM and generative-model workflows
  • Develop tooling for data pipelines, visualization, and experiment automation
  • Optimize code performance and support integration with HPC, cloud, and MLOps-style infrastructure
  • Collaborate with research teams to implement scalable and reproducible procedures
  • Contribute to technical documentation and open scientific software repositories

Requirements

  • Doctoral student status and completed higher education
  • Software engineering experience with complex systems (preferably Python or C++)
  • Documented open-source contribution experience
  • Documented AI research experience in the space sector or related domain; ESA collaboration is an advantage
  • Knowledge of reproducible scientific software practices, including version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and containerization
  • Very good command of English and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
