The person employed in this position will be responsible for conducting research in the area of new techniques for explaining AI models, in particular solutions for non-differentiable models, alternatives to the backpropagation algorithm, work on network models with high-level operations, and analysis of simulations in virtual environments with respect to the behavior of agents controlled by LLM-type models.

Responsibilities

  • Proposing, designing, and implementing new methods for analyzing AI models
  • Designing simulation environments for evaluating the behavior of agent-based systems – analyzing agent-based systems in terms of individual agent characteristics as well as stability and bias
  • Documenting research results in the form of scientific publications and internal reports
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (e.g., in the areas of systemic risk modeling, social processes, infrastructure networks)
  • Participating in the preparation and implementation of research projects funded from national and international sources (e.g., NCN, Horizon Europe, ESA PECS)
  • Serving as a scientific mentor for a small team of junior researchers (1–2 people), supporting them in simulation planning, literature review, and results analysis

Requirements

  • PhD in Math, Computer Science, Physics, Artificial Intelligence or similar field
  • Proven experience in research work on AI models
  • Ability to conduct independent research and work in a team, including a willingness to collaborate across disciplines and mentor junior researchers
  • Very good command of English (and another foreign language)
